Everyone has their muse. Mine was my mom. She inspired The Exposed Salon. Diane Disylvester was a hair legend and one of the first women to create a female owned business in a male dominated world. “I can’t” was never part of her vocabulary.
Diane opened her first business at 18, which is commendable alone, especially in the 1960s. She worked from early morning to late at night six days a week. Additionally, she won many awards for hair design throughout her career, especially for formal hair.
She invented many tools like special bobby-pins and rubber bands that made updos easier to complete. Diane was an active stylist all the way to her 70s because she loved her clients and the trade.
Diana was not only an unbelievable stylist, but also an astute business woman. She owned multiple businesses through the years of her life. In addition to her hair salon she opened three video stores and a night club. Later on in her life she owned four rental properties! Her first love was always her hair salon.
Diana wasn’t afraid to try anything. She even had her pilots license and her own plane. She was an amazing woman and mother and although she may be gone, she will never be forgotten.
Rest in Peace and Thank You For The Life Lessons Learned and Bringing me into this world.
